As the centre of Schwerin's Lakeland Region, the "Big One" has lots of little bays and almost untouched islands. During the day, sails are set, bathing bays are explored or boats are anchored in front of a café – and at night, in the houseboat, the waves gently rock you to sleep.
Schwerin's Lakeland Region
The image of the oldest town in Mecklenburg is dominated by the blue of its twelve lakes. The biggest one of them is Lake Schwerin – only a few people know that it is one of Germany's largest inland waters.
Cruises
Experience the beauty of the outline of the town and its castle from the water. Every day during the season, the passenger ships of the WEISSE FLOTTE ("White Fleet") offer various lake trips from the pier right next to Schwerin Castle.
Paradise of blue and green
With lots of branched rivers and canals, Schwerin's Lakeland Region is part of Europe's largest connecting lake district. You could steer your boat from the castle town of Schwerin to the Baltic Sea, to Hamburg – or even to the Chancellery in Berlin. But be honest – who would want to leave this magical water paradise willingly?
