Lots of interesting buildings are preserved from its eventful history. What are particularly interesting are the two large churches and the town hall, which are in the brick Gothic style, but also the historic half-timbered houses in the cosy town centre.
Parchim

Historic old part of town
Parchim is surrounded by historic town walls and criss-crossed by the Elde River and several streams. The silhouette of the town is marked by the two big churches that are surrounded by interesting half-timbered town houses.
Brick Gothic style
The large brick churches of St George and St Mary and the large town hall date back to the Middle Ages. All three buildings are impressive examples of the brick Gothic style, a special northern European architectural style.
Lake Wocker and Müritz-Elde-Wasserstraße
From Dömitz on the river Elbe to Plau am See, the 180 km long waterway goes through diverse countryside. Along their banks, there are pretty towns, which make you want to stop and enjoy a relaxing break there. People exploring the waterways in boats, canoes and the like can stop for a break in the middle of Parchim. There are boat moorings, canoe stations and spaces for caravans and mobile homes. There are several restaurants and pubs as well as the old town of Parchim close by.
Pfarrkirche St. Georgen Parchim
Beeindruckend erhebt sich der Turm von St. Georg über Fachwerkgassen und Giebelhäuser aus dem Mittelalter. Die Backsteinkirche aus dem 13. Jahrhundert beherbergt u.a. eine kunstgeschichtlich bedeutende Innenausstattung.
