Musische Schlossgärten

The garden trails between the lakes lie in the castle parkland and gardens like islands of the Muses, often along attractive waters and in the vast countryside of Westmecklenburg. The route leads from Bothmer along parts of the coast and past farmhouses, which offer organic treats that they have grown or produced themselves.

The Muses have left their traces in lots of different forms in the many castle gardens. Schoolchildren once sang in the village teacher's garden in Muess and in landscape parks, you can hear rare birds singing. Bubbling water features enchant visitors to Ludwigslust and Schwerin; in contrast, at the State Stud Farm Redefin, horses are the big attraction.

In other places, monastery gardens enrich the world with their sounds. The gardens along the route are not only an invitation to enjoy orchestras and garden parties, but you will also often come across a symphony of silence, where you will just hear the sounds of nature and the sound of the wind in the treetops of big old trees.
