Walking - Trails and routes

Round walks, long-distance walking tours, pilgrimages and more. Walking is the best way to get really close to the countryside and its people – and in harmony with nature, too!

The landscape of Westmecklenburg is mostly flat, but it has an amazingly diverse variety of rare animals and plants. There are also some ancient pilgrimage routes in our region.

Klosterdreieck Walking Trail
The old border region between East and West Germany around the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Schaalsee is an insider tip and a good place for your soul. An approximately 100 km long walking tour through one of Germany's most beautiful regions connects the monasteries of Rehna, Zarrentin and Ratzeburg.

E9a European long-distance path
From the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve to the Szczecin Lagoon, the E9a European long-distance path crosses the interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Because there is one large nature reserve after another, the route is also called the "Nature Park Path"
